Bugaboo Cameleon 3 vs Stokke Xplory

March 8, 2017 by Jo

When I was first thinking about purchasing a stroller, I automatically wanted the Bugaboo Cameleon 3. I feel in love with it, it was my dream stroller. So, first, I started out buying this one. The one thing that I loved about it is that I could literally use it in 3 different ways. I could use it as a bassinet, which turned this stroller into a pram, or with my car seat, or even just with the regular seat once my daughter was old enough. When she was born, I mainly used it with just the car seat. I managed to find an adapter for my Nuna Pipa car seat and it was super easy to install and use. I wasn’t a huge fan of the bassinet and neither was my little one, but the car seat worked for the everyday life that I went through, especially since she falls asleep on car rides.

How I I found the Cameleon 3

This is one of my favorite strollers simply because it is so light and the frame is really small, so you can fit through basically any doorway. I have never wanted to have a bulky type of stroller, so I found one that would work well with a car seat and something that would be great for every day. It folds up quite small, its super lightweight, and it is quite easy to maneuver about. It is a lot easier to push than other types of strollers out there. I love the fact that the canopy is pink, but it is really great that it reclines so well. This is just an all-around well thought out stroller.

Then I found the Stokke Xplory.

How I found the Xplory

This is the coolest looking stroller I have ever found and being the impulsive person that I am, I bought it. It is a great stroller, but it isn’t really my favorite but I do love a lot of the features it has. I bought the adapter for my car seat which was really hard to install. Once my girl was big enough to just go in the seat, I found that I really liked this stroller.

The fact that this stroller is high up, and it means that she is closer to me. That is one of the things I love about it. I also like the fact that you can use it as a high chair, when your child is facing outwards. The seat is plush and the canopy is very sturdy unlike the Cameleon 3. Everything that is on the stroller is easy to use.

The verdict

I didn’t like the fact that there wasn’t a lot of storage on the Xplory and that is usually the main reason why I do not use this stroller as much. I tend to carry a lot of things with me. It is also a bit heavier than the Cameleon 3. It is pretty cool and has a lot of good thing about it, I just do not think that it is worth the time. It is still a great stroller, but when compared to the Bugaboo Cameleon 3, it just doesn’t make the cut.

Stokke Crusi review

March 6, 2017 by Jo

Recently, I borrowed a stroller from a good friend who has children because I’ve had such a good experience with the Stokke Xplory that I just had to try it out.  She just happened to own the Stokke Crusi that comes with a sibling seat but the “double” option should really only be used occasionally.

The Crusi actually has multiple features and it is considered a connection stroller that comes with an option sibling seat. What I didn’t know is that connection strollers are designed to place your children very close to you which in turn stimulates development and bonding as well as increasing the feelings of comfort and security for child.

Another awesome thing about the Crusi is that it will grow with your child. You can use it from birth and up. It also allows your child to face you or face the world and has 5 different seating positions from a high chair position all the way to a resting position.

When it comes to setting up the stroller, it was super easy. Even being quite pregnant, I was able to assemble it without a lot of bending or having any issues just by following the graphics and manuals. When you first open the box, you just need to attach your wheels, which just click in place. Then your seat will just click into place as well. I actually love the fact that there is green indicator that will let you know if you attached the seat correctly.

Another awesome thing about it is that you can fold this stroller flat to store it. It slides open easily but there isn’t a storage lock on the stroller. Your handlebar is completely adjustable and it can be retracted just by pressing a button.

It also comes with a mosquito net and rain cover which are really easy to install as well when you need them and often times I do.

I also love the fact that the Crusi is really easy and smooth to push, even on rough terrain. It is well balanced and safe as well as providing a nice ride to my little ones. I also love the wheel size and that this stroller is super easy to maneuver.

It has a bright colored brake that is easy to find and easy to use which will keep this stroller locked in place. You can also lock the front wheels just by sliding the locking button in the front.

There is also a huge basket that you can use as a storage area when you are out and about. It is easy to access and it is a really big plus in my book to have plenty of extra space in the bottom. But there is one issue, whenever you are using the sibling seat, the basket can be hard to access because there is little to no room for storage.

Over all, the Stokke Crusi is nice. I like that is higher than other strollers and allows me to have that chance to connect with my little one just by seeing her face at all times. It looks very modern and well engineered.

I definitely would recommend the Crusi to anyone who has more than one child who is still little enough to be in stroller. Not only is it lighter, it has plenty of storage and the sibling seat works quite well with toddlers.

Stokke Scoot

February 7, 2017 by Jo

Stokke Scoot_1

When it comes to strollers, it is really hard to find one that will work with a newborn. The Stokke Scoot will do that. It is a compact city stroller that can be used from Newborns to 35 pounds. It has lockable swivel wheels as well as a peek-a-boo canopy that has UPF 50+ as well as ventilation on the top and sides. It also has a really nice adjustable rotation handlebar. The seat will work in different ways but in 3 positions. You can lay it flat for napping and there is an adjustable footrest. The tires on it are large and foam filled that has built in suspension that will not puncture. It also comes with a shopping basket that you can get to from all sides. You can also use it with the travel system with Nuna Pipa without having to get those pesky adapters. But, it does offer adapters for Chicco, Maxi-Cosi, Cybex, Nuna, and Peg Perego. The Scoot does come with the seat, chassis, hood with visor, harness protector, rain cover and a mosquito net. The seat is machine washable and the canopy and visor are hand wash only.

Usability

When it comes to how easy it is to use, it is a bit hard. It isn’t super difficult, but it isn’t super easy either. It is at the right balance of I think I know what I am doing and I think I need to read the manual to figure this out. The storage basket is great. It is large enough for my huge diaper bag, my purse, and some things I buy while out. I can get to what I need from all sides, but according to the manual it will only hold up to 4.4 pounds. I know that my diaper bag weighs at least twice that and it carries it just fine.

Stokke Scoot_5

Canopy

The Scoot has a nice sunshade that keeps my little on shaded. My baby is quite light skinned and burning during the summer is one thing I do worry about, so I always look for strollers that have ample shading for our walks. The sunshade is only medium in size, but because it has extra ventilation, you can unzip the sides to allow for ventilation as well as extending the canopy. This also works as the peek-a-boo window, but it isn’t the traditional moveable flap.

Stokke Scoot_6

Maneuverability

When it comes to maneuvering it, carpet isn’t its friend. But it does really great on rough terrain and handles curbs really well. I manage to go through tight spaces with ease. It even takes the stairs easier than other models, or so my husband says. He is the stair master of all strollers. He stated that the handle flexes a bit and it can be a bit bouncy coming down the stairs.

Stokke Scoot_2

Safety

When it comes to safety it is one of the top of line models. There is little chance of back tipping if your little one moves too far up in the seat while in the recline position.

Stokke Scoot_3

Other considerations

The only downside that I have for this model is that there isn’t a parent console, additional storage, or child tray. This is only because the competition has storage bins that are holding up to 20 pounds, which is great for city trips, especially the ones where you are shopping.

The stroller does have 3 reclining positions that will take both hands to use. Instead of your usual one handed recline. You will have to unclip the buckles on each side to recline this model. It can be a bit frustrating but once you are used to it, it isn’t a problem.

Stokke Scoot_4

Conclusion

For being a simple stroller, the Stokke Scoot was a little difficult to get together, but it has been more sturdy than other models. You can have your little one face you or face the world. Not only is it a nice looking stroller. Like I stated before, the only issue I have with the Scoot is the lack of storage.  I really love Stokke products, you should check out my review of the Stokke Xplory.

It’s a style icon!

Basics of the stroller

For me, the Stokke Xplory Strollers are the most modern and stylish strollers available.  But they come at a price much like its main competitor, the Bugaboo Cameleon which superseded the Bugaboo Frog.  They are probably one of the most expensive strollers available today but you really do get what you pay for.

I love that your baby sits up higher than any other stroller and this makes the whole stroller experience different. Your baby sees more and you end up interacting with your baby a lot more than with other strollers.

The Xplory will definitely turn a lot of heads so if you do not like a lot of attention and complete strangers coming up to you and asking you questions about your stroller, then this is not the stroller for you. For me, this is a small price to pay. This stroller does almost everything perfectly.

Celebs and Stokke

You can’t be a high end brand and not have celebs loving your brand.  Stokke strollers are used by celebs such as Bruce Willis and Emma Herning, Giuliana Rancic, Tina Fey, Gwen Stefani and Helen Flanagan.

Stokke Xplory Reviews

Virtually all Stoke Xplory Stroller Reviews are very positive but here is some information you might not know about Stokke prams. The bassinet is at a very comfortable height for a parent to work at and is much higher than other strollers. It has a curved base and ventilation which reduces the likelihood of dampness at the bottom of the bassinet.

There are 4 pockets to store bottles etc. There is also a pocket for the handles which helps protect your baby.

The bassinet shell is made from hard plastic which protects your baby and is easily cleaned.

The hood has a visor that can be easily removed. The hood has an opening for ventilation in hot climates (opening is protected by a mosquito net).

The bassinet cover is foam lined and is removable if using the stroller in warm climates.

Stokke Xplory_6

Maneuverability

As you would expect from such an expensive stroller, the Stokke Xplory is really maneuverable. The two large rear wheels and the two, swivel front wheels combined with the optional two wheel mode make this a great stroller to move around. But it is not the best. I found the UPPAbaby Vista slightly better when maneuvering in tight spots.

If the seat is used in the highest position, the ride can be a little more unsteady and this would be amplified when carrying older, heavier children. The ride is still comfortable for babies at full seat height and the stroller is in no danger of falling over on level surfaces.

Stokke Xplory_2

Seat

The seat height is adjustable and like the bassinet, is very high compared to other strollers. This makes working with your baby much easier. The adjustable height means that it can be used as a baby chair at tables in restaurants and cafes.

Stokke Xplory_3

The foot rest is adjustable and as your baby grows, they will always have a comfortable foot rest position.

The seat comes with an extra cushion that reduces the seat depth for small babies. This can be removed as your baby grows and does not need the extra support.

The seat is reversible and has a hood like the bassinet hood. The seat has 3 recline positions when facing the parents and 2 recline positions when facing forward.

Stokke Xplory_5

Folding

The Stokke Xplory Stroller collapses rather than folds. After shortening the handle, the stroller is “folded”by bringing the wheels closer together. The stroller takes up a lot of space when folded and will not fit in some car trunks. However, the wheels are easy enough to remove but this would not be a nice task to do when it the wheels are wet and it is raining.

Although the Stokke Xplory stroller folding process is not as simple as the Uppababy Vista, it is still a very simple process.

To fold the Stokke Stroller

  • Shorten the push handle
  • Flip the handle forward
  • Press the chassis release button with your foot and push the rear wheels with your foot until they touch the forward wheels
  • If necessary, remove the wheels and the seat

If the seat is left in position and the handle extended, the stroller is now in two wheel mode which is a very handy feature when traveling over sandy or soft ground or when going up stairs.

Handlebar

The handlebar is adjustable for both height and also for how far away you stand. The adjustments are really easy to do.

Stokke Xplory Vs Orbit Baby G2

UPDATE – The Orbit Baby G2 by Orbit Baby is a discontinued model.  I will still include the comparison below.

Of these two strollers, the Orbit Baby G2 has the most adjustable seat. The Stokke Xplory seat is higher but not by much and it has only 3 recline positions. The G2 wins due to the fact that the seat can rotate 360° which comes in very handy in tight areas.

Both strollers have puncture proof wheels and both are very easy to maneuver. The front wheels on the Xplory do not lock and this can be a hindrance when traveling over rough ground. The Stokke can be easily converted to two wheel mode for traveling over rough terrain and this is a very handy feature.

Both strollers have very good cargo space

The Orbit Baby is better as a travel system and when used as such, it is superior to the Xplory. The seat is very easy to transfer from the stroller to the car adapter.

The seat must be removed in both strollers before folding and although both stroller fold very easily, they both take up a lot of room when folded. The G2 wins in the folding due to the fact that it can be folded with one hand slightly easier than the Xplory.

There is very little to separate these two strollers but the Xplory wins (marginally) in looks and performance. However if you are going to be transferring your baby back and forward from your car, the G2 is the better stroller and makes this much more convenient.

Stokke Xplory Assembly

Box Contents

  • Canopy
  • Seat
  • Seat infant insert
  • Safety bar and storage bag
  • Stroller frame
  • Footrest

Assembly

  1. Extend the frame and put it into a standing position. Just beneath the handle are two white buttons. Press both of these in and up. Simultaneously press down with your foot on the arch just above the wheels. The rear wheels fold backwards to the standing position.
  2. Extend the handle to a comfortable height. Locate the white, triangular tab at the front of the handlebar. Lift it fully upwards while securing the stroller with your foot on a rear wheel or lower frame. The handlebar will extend. Release the white tab and secure it back into position again.
  3. Attach the seat. This is very simple. Lift the seat onto the two supporting lugs on the frame. Initially have the seat facing forward – we can adjust this later. You will hear an audible click when the seat is locked into position.
  4. Footrest. The footrest slides into two holes at the base of the seat and again, there will be an audible click as it locks into position.
  5. Safety bar. The safety bar slides easily into holes on either side of the baby seat. An audible click will be heard as it locks into position.
  6. Canopy. Align the canopy attachment points with the seat attachment points and press into place. Use the zipper to attach the canopy completely to the seat.
  7. Infant insert. When using the infant insert, make sure that the seat is facing towards you. Place the insert in the seat and pull the safety harness straps through the holes in the insert.
  8. Storage bag. Place the bag on the lower platform, just above the front wheels. Pass the strap behind the frame and clip into the attachment fastener on the opposite bag strap.

Your Stokke stroller is now fully assembled and ready for use.

Conclusion

The Stokke Xplory is one of the most expensive strollers on the market today but they are worth every cent. The Stokke strollers’ futuristic design combined with its ingenious practicality make it a favorite with parents all over the world.

Your baby sits higher than babies in other strollers. Your baby can see more and you can interact with your baby much more. Your baby can see much more of the world at this height and you do not have to strain your back every time you interact with your baby.

However be prepared for a lot of attention when you go anywhere with the Stokke Xplory stroller.

Virtually all Stokke Xplory reviews will have a positive flavor and I hope this Stokke stroller review was helpful but any feedback or personal reviews would be welcome and you can do this through the comments box on more recent posts or through the contact page.

Check out my review of the Stokke Scoot.

Stokke does have an option for those who need a double stroller but don’t want a massive double stroller like most of them are.  Check out the Stokke Crusi.

Even if you have a high end stroller, there will be times when you need a lightweight stroller and for that I’ve covered umbrella strollers here.

Alternatives to the Xplory

The Xplory is a ridiculously stylish stroller.  There is no way of replacing it.  It has all the style you would expect from a Norwegian company.  The only issue is the price tag.  The Xplory is simply out of the price range of most people.  Check the price of the Xplory.  In the table below I’ve listed some other great strollers which aren’t as expensive which you may want to consider.  If you can afford the Xplory, you won’t regret your purchase, it is an outstanding product.  After the below table I’ll continue on with the review of the Xplory.
